Although the corporate greed for control over GMO is appalling, any health concerns for giving GMO to children are unfounded. GMO is not harmful to children. Study after study continue to prove the bad health theories surrounding genetically modified organism (GMO) industry are wrong. While concerned activists have their heart in the right place, by ignoring science they are getting dismissed outright – which means the real reasons to dislike the GMO industry are being ignored.

But arguments that the seeds are leading to the end of humanity are wrong. The arguments that they are unhealthy are wrong. After a slurry of media reports came out recently that pigs were being made sick on GMO grains, the scientists and truth seekers are finding that these media interpretations were wrong. Once the actual studies were reviewed by scientists and academics, the information about why the studies show GMO is not harmful to children is clear. 1. Organisms mutate naturally
   The argument that children are more susceptible to problems may be true, but paranoia around eating mutated organisms have never been proved in a lab. Science is only encouraging mutations rather than waiting for nature to do it.
2. Mutated foods do not cause more allergies
   Somehow there’s a rumor going around that infants and children are going to be introduced to a new allergen because of genetically modified organisms. The problem with this theory is that allergens are based on chemical compounds that have little to do with mutations.
3. The organic food movement is also run by greedy businessmen

4. The Anti-GMO movement starves children
   Subsistence farming means the world’s poorest children are already perched on disaster. When drought or blight hits a patch of land, their organic, anti-GMO seeds have no resistence and the children go hungry.
5. GMOs reduce pesticides, herbicides and greenhouse emissions
   Because plants often need to be protected, farmers are intent on spraying crops with any variety of human fertilizer or other harmful and unregulated chemicals on plants. Anyone who likes the idea of organic should think this one through. GMO seeds prevent the need for these additives.

There are many other reasons GMO is not harmful to kids. Topping this list are the very real pressures put on parents who are made paranoid by ridiculous claims by the anti-GMO movement. Recent news about genetically modified organisms complicates food shopping, makes shopping more expensive and could deny children the variety of food they need because parents will withhold certain products for fears that GMO is harmful to kids.  But a look at the science is profing what many of us new all along – GMO is not harmful to children.
